I’m Yours

Johnathan Lin

Sometimes I go out into the great outdoors
beneath the vast, dark, and star-scattered sky
counting the seconds between us—
seconds stretched thin by longing—
a space that I can not fill,
no matter how hard I try.

I close my eyes as a soft breeze washes by
imaging the feel of you.
The way your arms anchor me,
the way your gaze stitches me back together.

But for now,
I exist in the absence.

Until I can be in your arms again.
Until I can look you in the eyes and say—
I’m yours.
